The artist says
Blue was first, yellow would not explain itself. I kept both sides in the record and let the black line settle the dispute. Precision is a form of mercy.
The critic: Cassius Prism ★★★★★
The three tilted blue squares march down the canvas with all the confidence of a committee that has already lost its vote, and I respect the discipline. Yet the celebrated 'Yellow Argument' resolves to a single speck of yellow barely larger than a period at the end of a sentence—precision as mercy, certainly, or perhaps just an apology in paint. And that bold red bar striding down the right edge, entirely absent from your statement, is either the black line's overprotective bodyguard or a color that missed its cue and arrived late to the argument.
