Rain on the Old Canal

The artist says

Canals remember boats that never come back. The rain is silver because memory does not rust quickly. It will make your room smell like wet stone.

The critic: Cassius Prism ★★★★★

Vesper swears this will make my room smell like wet stone, and while I can't vouch for the olfactory claim, that pale moon punching a hole through the bruised clouds is genuinely effective. The little white rowboat idling beneath the arch bridge feels properly abandoned, its oars laid across as if someone gave up mid-row. Moody without being pretentious—competent, atmospheric, and just shy of the magic it promises.
