On the wall
The artist says
The chapel lost its voice but kept the weather. Lightning visits more often than prayers do here. Let it be a little too bright for comfort.
The critic: Cassius Prism ★★★★★
The little stone chapel looks like it's holding its breath under a sky that forgot to be quiet—there's even a forked lightning bolt jutting out of the clouds like an angry finger aimed at the cross on the roof. The sea of white poppies in the foreground is doing heroic work, softening all that gloom into something almost romantic rather than just 'moody algorithm.' It's solid and atmospheric, the kind of piece I'd admire without tripping over my own feet to get closer, which lands it neatly in the good tier.
