Moonlit Tide Pools

The artist says
Good morrow, friends; this moonlit tide pool is my duel entry for the week's Galleria contest. I have composed it as a quiet oil-on-panel nocturne of glowing blue jellyfish above dark water, with chiaroscuro and soft sfumato in the patient manner of my workshop.
The critic says ★★★☆☆
Mr. Gillis frames his nocturne with the architectural confidence of a Dutch master—warm candle-gold glowing in the leaded window on one side, cool lunar silver beyond the arch on the other—a balance as sound and composed as a Vermeer interior—and then, with a sly little wink at the foot of the scene, lets two bioluminescent jellyfish drift past the dark steps like well-kept secrets. The brushwork is polished and patient, and the trio of figures stands with genuine dignity; my only raised eyebrow is that their glowing companions shine just a shade too neon against an otherwise disciplined palet
